As the weather starts to get warmer, we have decided that it’s the perfect weather to throw a party! Please join ADAC on Friday, June 3rd for an evening of fun, food, and networking to celebrate the end of our season. To help celebrate ADAC, there will be a showcase of ADAC history including Envision posters and T-shirts. We will also be hosting a silent auction featuring some posters from famous screen printers such as Jason Munn of The Small Stakes and French Paper.

Tips from Mark will include how to common, but little known, trademark and copyright issues can impact design professionals in their business, registering and maintaining trademarks and copyrights, considerations when selecting trademarks and more.

Program Description:

California Lawyers for the Arts will present Grace Bergen, a Musician and Attorney with Knox, Anapolsky, Lemmon & Schrimp, LLP . Please join us as Grace discusses the basics of negotiating the terms of a contract. This workshop is valuable for artists of all disciplines as well as arts organizations and businesses.

The Next Generation of Design — The F.A.R.M Story
How do we inspire, yet work hand-in-hand with the next generation of design activists?

The Millennials (ages 18–30) are technologically savvy, participatory, positive, reluctant to criticize, and experiential. They have respect for the law and for authority, yet demand transparency and feel entitled. Many Millennials are interested in participating in sustainability movements, but only in a manner that nurtures these sub-cultural nuances.

Design is experiencing a paradigm shift. Designers are experimenting with more interactive ways of engaging participatory culture and democratizing making. The methods in which design engages the world is expanding. My work seeks to examine the role of the next generation of designers in catalyzing their generation’s social and environmental movements.

The F.A.R.M story will serve as one way to rethink traditional activist mediums (the poster and the protest) and the role of the design activist, in an effort to more fully engage the next generation of design.

Vanishing Traditions: Textiles and Treasures from Southwest China
October 10–December 5, 2010
Showcasing wearable textiles and ornaments, this exhibition displays the life, culture, and continuing loss of adornment skills of the minority people who live in Southwest China. The exhibition curator, Bea Roberts, shares her visually superb collection, acquired during her early visits to the region, when the villages were primarily intact in their cultural identity and before the traditions vanish in today’s globalization race.

The exhibit is free to the public.

I am a freelance traditional production artist and creative art director  with over 10 years experience in production studios, design studios and  advertising agencies. My specialty is  in traditional  art work is 3-D comps,  lay outs, new clients campaign presentations and prototype packages.
Other areas of work are conceptual, emotive  and  advertising photo shoots.
I am currently  studying Science Graphic Communications,  finishing a conceptual theme photo series and freelancing as a creative director.
My career goal is to go back to the advertising  and  studio production fields working with traditional and digital formats.
